Core 40 Reference Sheet
It is imperative that your students be exposed to the reference sheet that they will see on the Algebra I Core 40 Exam before they take the test. The Reference Sheet can be found on the DOE website (http://www.doe.in.gov/eca/pdf/IN_ECA_Alg_I_Reference_Sheet.pdf), or by simply clicking HERE
Gridded Response Sheets
If you are taking the paper-and-pencil version of the exam, you will have gridded response questions, and your students should have exposure to this type of format before the exam. Go HERE for access to the gridded response sheets released by the DOE.
Newsletters
The DOE plans to send out quarterly newsletters with updates about the Core 40 Exam. This is crucial content that you should monitor monthly, because there are almost always some significant rules/decisions/policies that accompany these newsletters. You can find the newsletters HERE. You absolutely MUST read the newsletter titled "opening year". It will take less than 3 minutes to read.
Some highlights for the Algebra I Core 40 Exam include:
1. The two sessions will be different. One section will allow for a calculator, and the other section will NOT allow a calculator.
2. Each session is now 55 minutes long.
3. Scores will not be released until mid-late August of 2010 because the DOE is changing the cut score to reflect the new role of this exam (a graduation requirement). This is true regardless of whether your students take it online or paper/pencil.
